AWE-SOME CALIFORNIA
From the Gold Rush days of 1849 onward, people came from all over the world to discover California. All the while dreaming of its fabled riches, gentle climate and stunning beauty.
Today California continues to be discovered. Modern scenic wonders such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, and awe- inspiring beauty of Yosemite National Park continue to draw them.
There is much to experience in California: From alpine ranges and quaint towns in the north, to cosmopolitan cities, to sunny beaches on the coast, to lush farmland in the central valley, to theme parks and the entertainment industry in the south. Add to these a mild, inviting climate and warm, friendly people. This is California.
THE PERFECT VALLEY FOR JUICY RAISINS
The San Joaquin Valley, roughly 240 miles long and 50 miles wide, is naturally protected from wind and rain by mountain ranges to the east, west and south, and the Sacramento Valley to the north. With less than 10 inches of rainfall per year, tens of thousands of miles of heavy irriga tion pipes, canals and ditches are necessary to make the San Joaquin Valley one of the most productive, fertile valleys in the world.
